In the circulatory system there are three main structures. These structures are
1.The Heart
2. Blood Vessels
3. Blood
Each of these structures have very specific and important functions. These functions are as follows.
The Heart- the hearts job is to receive unoxygenated blood then contract forcefully pumping the blood to the lungs. it does this by having two pumps within it each with different strength values. The left and stronger side gets the blood from the lungs and pumps the blood to the rest of the cells in the entire body. The right side receives blood from the rest of the body and pumps it to the lungs.
Blood Vessels- the blood vessels' job are to help transport blood to and from the heart and to transport the blood to the lungs as well as the rest of the body. some of these blood vessels are capillaries, arteries and veins. The veins job are to transport blood to the heart. The arteries job are to transport blood from the heart. And the capillaries job are to connect the arteries and the veins.
Blood- the blood within a human consists of plasma and three formed elements. These elements are white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets. Red blood cells are used to transport oxygen and carbon dioxide through the body to the heart and lungs as well as all of the cells in the body. White blood cells are used to help prevent illness and disease within the human body by attacking foreign antibodies. And finally platelets, platelets are used to help prevent massive blood loss by releasing a substance that makes the blood clot.
